Home Fire Risk viewer application
Between June 6 and September 23, 2005, Berkeley Fire Department conducted fire risk assessments of the 8,358 parcels in the hazardous hills area.
Data was collected by interns walking parcel-to-parcel in the hills and filling out a form for each parcel as viewed from the public right-of-way.
The assessments collected information for five categories which included
- Means of access
- Vegetation
- Roofing assembly and building construction
- Available fire protection
- Placement of utilities.
This application presents fire risk information collected for your property, your neighborhood, and for the entire hazardous hills area.
Here’s how the program works:
Enter your property’s address with street number in the upper field and street name in the lower field, and then click the address button.
If the address that you entered fits more than one property, pick the desired property from the list.
For example, typing “8” in the upper field and “cres” in the lower field will return all valid addresses in the 800 block of CRESTON RD.
After selecting the desired property by clicking the parcel number hotlink, a page describing the property’s condition should appear.
Click the provided links to find out how you can reduce your home’s risk of wildfire and view the criteria used to collect parcel information.
Once you have completed the hazard reduction suggestions in the provided “Protect Your Home from Wildfire” checklist,
ou may e-mail Berkeley Fire Department to request a new assessment at fire@berkeley.ca.us
This project was funded by a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety Grant.
